ElevateHER! inspires freshmen girls to take up space
MAY 17, 2024 | When Alanys Espinal walked toward the Lorain High School auditorium Friday morning, greeted by cheers from dozens of women leaders, she had no idea what to expect from ElevateHER!
By lunchtime, Alanys said she was emotional after hearing affirmations that resonated with her.
"When we were asked to look at each other and say 'you matter,' it made me feel something," shared the freshman, her voice filled with emotion. "It's been a while since I've heard those words, and I couldn't help but get emotional."
In collaboration with the YWCA Elyria, ElevateHER! was a two-hour summit for Lorain High freshmen girls, focused on creating safe spaces and listening to their voices.
